COMMENTARY · 24th December 2011
There are two holidays which I look forward to every year, they are Halloween and Christmas. I’ve always viewed Halloween as a time of year fueled by our imaginations. Christmas on the other hand is a time of year fueled by our hearts.
Pretty lights, gifts under the tree and the holiday rush matter little compared to the wonders of people who give themselves to brighten the holidays for the less fortunate or simply to make other peoples days a little brighter.
It is a time for family, for reflection. A time to fuel the spiritual needs or fill the soul with warmth. A time, not for selfishness, but to spend with family, see friends who have long been absent and enjoy the holidays.
On behalf of the Kitimat Daily, I wish the Northwest a safe, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2012.
