Former Councillor Bob Corless was called up for a special presentation at Council on Monday, December 19th.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for the many years of service that you’ve done for the community of Kitimat as a Municipal Councillor,” said Mayor Joanne Monaghan.
Corless joined Council in 1993 and served for 18 years. He served on the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine and is an acting member of the Lions, the Hill Climb and an executive member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was also the coordinator of the air show society.
“I’d like to give thanks to the people of Kitimat for 18 years of support and putting their trust in me. I certainly appreciated that. Congratulations to the new Council and I wish you all success,” said Corless.
He said being on Council was a wonderful opportunity for everyone. He thanked the administration, the yard employees and his spouse, Grace who helped as a sounding board. He thanked Peter Nunes at the Body Shop, and his fellow employees who pick up the slack when he has to leave. He thanked his Neighbour for blowing his driveway as well as the people who look after his dogs when he is out town.
He wished the community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. “Kitimat is on the road to success and I’m glad you’re going to be a part of it,” said Corless.
