The Kitimat Child Development Centre is looking for new volunteers for their board of directors.
“The Child Development Centre is short three board members. We can have more then three be appointed because the AGM was in June but we’ve had a couple of people who have had to step down,” said Margaret Warcup.
“We’re looking for people from the community who want to be on our board of governance. We are a board who meets once a month,” said Warcup.
She explained they are accredited, they have good policies and procedures, great debate and they want a strong board that advocates for the services at the centre.
The time commitment is once a month with a break in the summer. They are given three to four days to read the material ahead of time. It is fun, but there is some advocacy involved to ensure the services stay in Kitimat.
