REPORTING · 7th December 2011
Walter McFarlane
Kitimat City Council had their statutory meeting last night and things were different. The Council Chambers had an entirely new set up. Administration is now seated between the gallery and the media, the media and presentation tables are closer to the Councillors and the Council tables are at a new angle which allows them to see each other better.

Not changed was some of the seating however. Councillor Rob Goffinet and Councillor Mario Feldhoff retained their seating positions from the previous Council and Councillor Corrine Scott shifted one seat to the right. Mayor Joanne Monaghan’s seat is now located right in front of the portrait of the Queen.

Where Bob Corless previously sat is Councillor Edwin Empinado, Councillor Mary Murphy has Gerd Gottschling’s seat, and Councillor Phil Germuth has Scott’s previous seat.

Mayor Joanne Monaghan expressed this set up was the work of Ron Poole, Bev Gibaldi and Shirley Boudreault. From here, she could see the Councillors when they wish to speak. She also asked the public for feed back on the new set up.
