On October 27th, Douglas Channel Watch showed a pre screening of the documentary, White Water, Black Gold, at the Kitimat Library. The meeting room was packed.

The document, created by David Lavallee, follows a drop of water through the Athabasca River past the oil sands to Fort Chipewyan, while discussing the problems associated with the Tar Sands in Alberta.

It then follows a Drop of Oil to Kitimat where Lavallee attends the first session of the Joint Review Panel in September of 2010. The video was informative, concerning the not so positive aspects of the Alberta Tar Sands and the Enbridge Pipeline, and is worth watching.

Douglas Channel Watch will be showing another film this Thursday, November 24th at 7:00 Pm in the Riverlodge Recreation Centre Community Room. The, documentary, On the Line, was created by Frank Wolf.

Wolf, in 2010, hiked the proposed path of the Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline project. The video highlights his 53 day trip through forests, mountains and rivers.

If you are pro or con Enbridge please stop in and watch this amazing documentary. It will give everyone an idea of the terrain and scenery the pipeline will travel through, if approved! Admission is FREE!
