As a Dad, Home-owner and Tax payer what I bring to council.

Council Meetings; I would like to restructure the council meetings to include a student councillor to offer their opinion on issues pertaining to the direction of the city councils decision.

Derelect Buildings; No change to by-law except use stronger language and the experience of health inspectors, building inspectors and the fire cheif in desiding what should be done.

District Yard; From listening to Virgil's concern there seems to be a lack of communication between the yard and council, that has to change and I believe it can change. By implimenting a structured meeting between the two on solving concerns that periodically occur. I will elaberate further on this issue as I collect more information on an idea thats out there to see if it would benefit the yard.

Health; I'll have to be honest, I'm not too familiar with the health concerns but that doesn't mean I can't learn. Lack of certain beds is an issue I've been hearing and also aide, lobbying the prov. government and the health board with our concerns seems to be the direction for any help on the issues here.

Industry; Oh to have a crystal ball !! I've been hearing of many proposed industries now but haven't seen any activity (besides RTA and KLNG) but I think we need to look at off-shoots of what we have now (aluminum) and a vast inlet for oppertunity . A road down the west side of the channel would open up oppertunity but so would a route through to Houston to cut hours of commute for transporting goods through to the rest of the province and vise-versa. Fuel costs are going no where but up so transportation routes need to be shortened to off set those costs. That is why a plant that needs aluminum would be a no brainer and why there isn't one here yet is beyond me.

These are some of the issues I believe need adressing sooner rather than later. I'm not going to elaberate on enbridge as I have been very candid with where I stand on it and that won't change once I'm on council. Thank you and if you don't vote for me, at least vote, it will make a differance in the long run (and it will also give you the right to " I TOLD YOU SO" one way or the other)
