REPORTING · 7th November 2011
Walter McFarlane
The First Questioner asked the Mayoral Candidates what they have brought to the leaders of our countries/provinces attention and the results of these.

Randy Halyk answered Council met with the Premier at the UBCM. They discussed the West Side Road, taking over Haisla Boulevard by the Province, The hospital lands. They brought the same concerns to Adrian Dix. He also met with a number of other leaders, Conservative and Green party about what they might think is important.

Joanne Monaghan said she met with ministers and the Premier on the same topics. Monaghan talked about a wharf with her as well. She said it was because of this meeting, a delegation from China is looking at Kitimat to build a wharf. She also talked about the West Side Road and the take over of Haisla Boulevard. She talked to George Abbot about the school issues, they did not hear back from him. Monaghan added Clark will meet with the delegation from China.

Jim Thom has not met with ministers recently, but when he was with NCMA, he set up the ability for Councils too meet with ministers. He added he would attend these meetings and join communities as an elected Mayor should not be sitting back in the community.
