The first of the Mayoral Candidates to introduce themselves was Randy Halyk.
“You face a choice, to elect a new mayor with vision, or stay with the status quo. I would like to speak in favour of change. You need a leader at the helm to weather the stormy seas ahead. Big opportunities and big challenges face us,” said Halyk
Halyk said Enbridge was not the only issue, there was also meat and potato issues such as aging infrastructure, tax base, the idea of city hall, recreation facilities and waterfront. He asked to consider schools, hospital and the police force.
“Let’s work together, make the changes needed, to support our values, lifestyle and economic future. We need a transparent and accountable council who puts Kitimat first,” said Halyk.
He asked the people if Kitimat could survive another three years without a plan, vision or goals. He said he had a plan and wanted to move forward to achieve those goals
