There are two great haunted houses in Kitimat this year. The first is on 35 Finch Street, the other is at 66(6) Partridge.
“Halloween is my favourite time of year, Halloween is like my Christmas. I buy decorations, I plan what I’m going to do for the year, I take a week and a half, put it all together with some close friends and this year, I was able to expand it a little more,” said Michelle Marentette at 35 Finch.
She started building haunted houses last year and this years house extends into the driveway. The haunted house has a home made graveyard, a morgue, an asylum complete with inmates, a holding area for people next in line to a butcher shop and a witches house with goblins.
A second house can be found on Partridge Street
“This year is Zombies,” said Cherry Willis at 66 Partridge Street. “It’s the Chapel of Unrest and it’s about the Zombies coming back to life.”
A part of the theme is a couple of zombies being killed in an Enbridge Oil spill. A small poem is written on one of the fence posts. Steven Harper and Pat Daniels have their own tombstones reserved for them in the lawns cemetery.
There are decorations for the older kids and decorations for the younger kids. “I encourage anybody to come whether they’re wearing a costume or not,” said Willis.
