REPORTING · 29th October 2011

If there is a running gag in politics, it is the request for a Shiny New Fire Engine. However, this year the Kitimat Fire Department just happened to get their request.

“It’s a 75’ Quint, they call it. It’s basically, a 75’ ladder truck that is just a ladder. There is no platform at the end of the ladder. Built by Smeal,” said Acting Fire Chief, Trent Bossence.

The Quint replaces their 100’ ladder Truck. The new truck arrived at the beginning of October and it has been almost a year since they started looking for a new truck.

The old truck was auctioned off to a company in Inuvik. Bossence was happy the truck did not go to a scrap yard.
