The election is on but there is still a regular meeting of Council Meets tonight, Monday October 17th at 7:30 pm in the Council Chambers.
There are three presentations scheduled. The first presentation is from Staff Sergeant Steve Corp with his Monthly Policing Report from September. The second is from Dieter Wagner, representing Douglas Channel Watch, on the marine route of the tankers. The third presentation will be by Wendy Kraft and it concerns Bylaws and the Unsightly Premises Task Force.
After approving minutes, Council moves into unfinished business, for profit clinics. There is a motion to host FCM’s Board of Directors meeting in 2014. Following the motion is the Final Adoption of the Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw and the introduction of a rezoning bylaw in Service Centre.
Under reports, there are two Development Variance Permits from Rio Tinto Alcan, Council Remuneration for 2012, a request for a fireworks display from the Luso and the Statement of Accounts for September.
Finally, under communications, there is letter concerning the Unsightly Premises bylaws discussed earlier in the meeting and a letter from Murray Minchin concerning the neutrality of the District of Kitimat concerning Enbridge.
