At four on Friday, October 14th, with 4 candidates for Mayor and 13 candidates for Alderman, Walter McLellan closed the door to the Council Offices in City Centre Mall and the period for filing nomination papers for the 2011 Municipal Election for Kitimat closed.

Three of the four Mayoral Candidates were present for end the nomination period, Danny Nunes, Incumbent Joanne Monaghan and Randy Halyk (in the order which they showed up). None of the Candidates for Alderman were present to witness the closure of the door.

“May the best woman win,” said Monaghan after the names of the candidates were read.

It was also announced there will be no election for School Trustee in Kitimat as Incumbents Berry Pankhurst and Ray Raj will get in by acclamation.
