The Kitimat RCMP and RCMP North District Major Crimes Unit continue their investigation into the homicide death of 47 yr old Maria (Teresa) Rego and the aggravated assault of her 46 yr old husband Gualter Manual Rego of Kitimat BC. The Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of a reported stabbing and break n' enter at the couple’s home early Sunday morning.
“Area residents will have noted that we have been canvassing door to door for information, as we are seeking any info from any and all possible witnesses. Although reported to us at 07:00 a.m. on Sunday, we are asking that should anyone have seen anything or anyone suspicious late last Saturday night early Sunday morning between 02:00 and 07:00 a.m. to contact our investigators.”stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk.
The RCMP is maintaining continuity of the crime scene at this time, with RCMP Forensic Identification Investigators from both Terrace and “E” Div HQ, continuing their examination of the home on Turney Street, Kitimat, BC. Investigators will be attending Vancouver for the scheduled autopsy examination of the deceased, Teresa Rego this Thursday. Details and the nature of the injuries sustained by either victims are not being released at this time.
The accused, 19 yr old Tyler Scott Eli has been remanded by the courts to remain in custody until his next scheduled court appearance on October 25, 2011.
