REPORTING · 22nd September 2011
Walter McFarlane
It was a grey day on Sunday, September 19th. This did not stop several devoted individuals from Kitimat from coming out and participating in the Terry Fox Run. 8 runners and two dogs came out and participated.

“As we know, Betty Fox passed away this year, Terry’s mother who was the leader and mover on these Terry Fox Runs for the last 31 years. In the 31 years that the Terry Fox Run’s have been happening all over the world, half a billion dollars has been raised for Cancer Research,” said Anne Beresford, organizer of the Terry Fox Run in Kitimat.

This year, $247 was raised as a part of the run. Beresford stated Terry Fox would not have succumbed to the Cancer he had with the results in fighting Cancer which they have achieved today.

Beresford also asked people to remember all of the Kitimat people who have left us or are dealing with Cancer today.

“Even if you didn’t make it to today’s run, you are certainly welcome to make donations online to the Terry Fox Foundation,” said Beresford.

Special thanks went to Dorothy Cheyne who helped organize the run and the highlight of the run were Mr. and Mrs. Lambright who drove down to Kitimat from Terrace and ran 10 kilometres. According to Beresford, they were determined to participate in a run, even in the wind and the rain.
