REPORTING · 20th September 2011
Walter McFarlane
Mayor Joanne Monaghan opened the Council meeting on September 19th by announcing she and Municipal Manager Ron Poole had met for 15 minutes with Christy Clark.

“I indicated to her that Kitimat is going to be the hub of economic development in Western Canada and it is working hard with investors to make it happen. Some of Council will be meeting with the premier at UBCM later this month and this meeting acted as a natural bridge between today’s meeting and the later one,” said Monaghan.

Monaghan also announced that they met with Chief Councillor for Kitamaat Village, Eliss Ross since the Council meeting of the 6th. The two discussed the relationships of the two communities. Councillor Gerd Gottschling stated he contacted by the leader of the opposition, Adrian Dix who wished to meet with Council as well. Monaghan stated this meeting would take place on Thursday.
