Madeleine Robinson
The M.E.S.S. PAC (Parent Advisory Council) is heading up the Mult-Purpose Court Rennovation project which includes a full hockey court, basketball court, mini basketball court and 1 tennis court which can be converted to another hockey court. We have received the funding for Phase l of the project through various donations, grants and work in kind as mentioned below. PHASE l includes the drainage (Oviatt), crack sealing (Kentron) and ordering of the equipment which includes basketball systems and hockey nets as well as new "removable" tennis posts. Phase l will be complete and operational by September this year and we hope to secure enough money for "PHASE II".

Phase ll will involve paving of the existing surface. We are waiting to hear back on grant applications submitted in order to acquire sufficient funding to proceed with phase ll. We have 1/2 the funding already for PHASE ll and it is crucial to get it done this summer due to rising paving costs if postponed.

We would like to "thank" the M.E.S.S. students above (Joel Meier, Craig Vienneau and Troy Robinson) for volunteering their time to help with the clean up of the courts. Overwhelming Gratitude is extended to Oviatt Construction, Kentron Construction, Enbridge, Bechtel, Former Tennis Club, UBCM (Schools Community Connections Grant) and last but not least the District Of Kitimat and Council who have helped immensely to bring this worthwhile project back to life. We are very excited to complete this project to provide an outdoor activity for the students, youth and our community at large and give back what we once had to Kitimat.

To read more about the project, please see the M.E.S.S. website, http://mtelizabeth.cmsd82.bc.ca and if you can help by donating hockey posts w/without nets or give direction to access other funding, please e-mail our M.E.S.S. PAC, mtelizabethpac,,,live.ca .

Thank you also to all the residents who have supported this project to create positive change in our community!

If anyone has any spare outdoor steel hockey posts with or without netting to donate to the MESS Courts, please contact Madeleine ,,, 250 632-2507.
