Mount Elizabeth Secondary School held its Graduation Ceremony on June 23rd. The large gym was packed with proud parents, family and well wishers. The ceremony kicked off at 7:30 PM. There were around 96 graduates this year.
The grads walked up with a Candlelight ceremony, passing the flame of knowledge onto the grade 11s as they received their diploma.
Trustee Raymond Raj congratulated and advised the grads on behalf of the School Board. Superintendent Nancy Wells spoke next giving the grads advice. The Principal Janet Mires addressed the grads with quotes from: “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss. The address from the parent was Pina Van den Adle.
Grant Frater, who addressed the grads on behalf of the teachers, commented as his retirement originally coincided with this graduation but he decided to return for another year. He shared with them several rules for happiness; the first is having low expectations.
The final speaker was Class Valedictorian, Linda Horianopoulos. The grad choir sang two songs before the ceremony ended and it was time to go off to Dry Grad.
