REPORTING · 28th June 2011
The 1st peace pole has been raised at Kildala Elementary School. There was a special assembly on Tuesday, June 21st to recognise the first Peace School and for members of the Rotary Club of Kitimat to once again, congratulate the students. Mayor and Council as well as members of the community who work with peace were also present for the celebration.
The pole started as a cedar tree which was donated by the Kudo Family. It was taken to the high school where the pole became the project of a class of students under the eye of Mr. Sluyter. The School District then brought it down to Kildala. Kildala was also presented a plaque proclaiming it as the peace school for 2010-2011.
The students went to the pool the next day as a part of their celebration.
