The National Energy Board was in Kitimat on Thursday, June 16th with an open house with some information on the upcoming Joint Review Panel hearings..

”Tonight, we’re holding an information session so people can learn more about the Joint Review Panel process and Participation options for the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project,” said Jaclyn Silbernagel, Communications Officer for the NEB.

There are different participation options available to the public. They can write a letter, make an oral statement or become interveners and government bodies can become government participants. Signing up is as simple as going to www.gatewaypanel.review.gc.ca for the materials.

The deadline to become an intervener is the 14th of July, to register for an oral statement has a deadline of the 6th of October and letters of comment can be submitted until March 16th, 2012.

Interveners do not have to intervene in the project, but they do receive all the information. Community hearings are set to begin on the 20th of January, 2012. Final hearings start in June of 2012.
