The role of the Naden Band of Maritime Forces Pacific is to provide support for the Canadian Forces, in particular the Navy. With nine ensembles at the ready, it offers complete musical service for military, governmental, and civilian functions as required, serving to heighten morale throughout Canada and abroad. For the northern tour it will be traveling with thirty-five members and include the the Naden Concert Band, the Naden Winds Quintette, and the Parade Band.

The Naden Concert Band performs diverse musical styles from classical to jazz, pop and contemporary music. Several musicians are featured during these performances with exciting instrumental and vocal solos. This ensemble performs for military, civilian, and charity functions, as well as concerts for elementary, high school and university students. Programs for school concerts range from classical selections to hit movie and television themes, selected especially to educate and entertain students.

The Naden Winds is made up of five professional musicians dedicated to the promotion of traditional and contemporary woodwind literature. This multi-functional ensemble performs a musical repertoire ranging from all periods - Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and 20th Century to light, contemporary, and popular music.
As well as providing support for solemn occasions such as Remembrance Day Ceremonies and the Interment of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial in Ottawa in 2001, the Parade Band has been featured at parades and festivals throughout Canada, and at events such as the Royal Visit of Queen Elizabeth II, and BC Lions games.
