REPORTING · 10th May 2011
Walter McFarlane
Eileen Hutson got up to represent Kitimat Arts For Youth (KAFY) at the City Council Meeting on Monday, May 2nd.

“In the past few months, a group of Kitimat Arts For Youth people have come up with a brand new event for Kitimat. It’s our Art Festival, 2011,” said Hutson.

She explained there were so many year end events which fall within a ten day period, KAFY decided they were going to make these events into their art festival. All the participating groups have put up some funds for publicity and they have funds from Bechtel.

“We would like to request a matching $1,500 from council so that we could really make a splash and get all these events well attended,” said Hutson.

Councillor Mario Feldhoff asked if the events are free. The response: Most of these events are free with the exception of three events. The funds from those go to the sponsoring organization.

During reports, Feldhoff made a motion to grant the entire $1,500 to the program. Staff had recommended they give the program $600. The motion was carried.
