Vickey Kokesch from the Kitimat Snowflake Fairgrounds got up to present to Council on the Upcoming Bull-O-Rama on Monday, April 4th. She thanked the District for doing the brushing because now the fairground is visible from the highway.
“Our society does all their work through grants and the fundraising that they do and last year, we were able to extend the power from the main power pole into the building, which increased our safety for events for both patrons and participants,” said Kokesch.
She expressed the main reason she was there was on June 11th, they would be putting on the 3rd annual Bull-O-Rama. It is professional bull riding, and is claimed as such even on the professional bull riding website.
Also returning is the stock contractor, C+ Rodeo providing all 30 bulls, the shoots, the panels, the riders, the bullfighters and everyone who makes up the show. The bull riders will be coming from across BC and Alberta.
A new guest to the show is the Wacky and Wild World of Ash Cooper. “He has received multiple ‘Rodeo Entertainer of the Year’ awards. He was an award winning TV host of Cowboy Country and he is one of Leaning Trees Top Artists.
Added to the agenda is a wild horse race, which the community has entered. In addition, there is an event for the kids, Bull-O-Lamba where the kids can chase a lamb around for a prize. The Looking for Love Animal Shelter will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast again. Finally, they are inviting the businesses to dress up. The winner of the best dressed will have $500 donated to the Kitimat Hospital Foundation in their name.
The Cowboys arrive on the 10th of June, a Friday night, and will have some time to enjoy what Kitimat has to offer, which is sponsors night, where the sponsors get to meet the cowboys and sponsor a ride. A dance follows the show.
She expressed the Hospital foundation will be the primary beneficiary. They requested a benefit in-kind for the Tamitik Arena, a sweeper for cleaning up the floor of the arena and manpower for the event.
