NEWS RELEASE · 20th March 2011
On March 8, 2011, 85 women from a cross section of the community gathered together (at Riverlodge in Kitimat) for a tea and to listen to some fabulous local speakers.
Joanne Monaghan (mayor), Tanya Meyer (RTA), Iralanda Price (NWCC), Keisha Wilson (NWCC), and Ali Howard (Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition) all volunteered their time to come out to the event and speak to the group.
Two local youth performers; Gabrielle Gagnon-Picard (piano) and Danika Howell (speech arts) were also on hand to provide entertainment.
This event was hosted by the Tamitik Status of Women to mark the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day. The women who attended, those who volunteered their time (speakers & helpers), and those who donated items for us to use at the event (Luso Ladies), all helped to make it a great success!
