CONTRIBUTION · 9th February 2011
Kitimat Food Bank Society
Thank you to everyone who ran publicity for our 2010 Kitimat Christmas Hamper Appeal - it was a resounding success as indicated below. We would appreciate having the final article published/broadcast in the near future.

WOW - what an amazing response to the 2010 Kitimat Christmas Hamper Appeal - we never cease to be amazed by the generosity of our community even with the economic turmoil and loss of businesses and members from the community you donated $36,825.47 . The only year to barely come close to this amount was our 2008 total at $36,802.94. This year we filled 306 hampers and have funding to enable us to run through 2011.

Our final donations were: P Dawson $100; Anonymous $35; B.C. Winner of the Hawk Air/Advantage Wings Travel trip for two to Vancouver for Kitimat was Bernie James. Congratulations Bernie.

I am including the following as I think I may have missed thanking them in December: Seipman Construction for donating 50,000 Save-On/Overwaitea bonus points that can be used to purchase food; Girl Guides for making Christmas gift tags to be used for wrapping gifts; Baptist Youth Group for holding a food drive in Kildala neighbourhood recently donating food for hampers; Corinne Scott for holding an appreciation dinner for her support staff and asking them to bring either a gift, food or cash donation for Christmas hampers, Red Hat Ladies for collecting food and CS Girls Christmas dinner for donating gift certificates for teens. Thank you all.

We would also like to thank the Terrace businesses who generously donated to the Appeal this year - following the lead of Bryan at Canadian Tire who has been a staunch supporter of local Food Banks for many years.

Once again we would especially like to thank all the volunteers (you know who you are) who spent countless hours collecting, sorting, wrapping, delivering etc. To the churches for your ongoing support not only at Christmas not but throughout the year and to your members who volunteer at the Food Bank year round. To the students and staff of our schools for collecting food. St. Anthony's has a food drive twice a year to help fill our shelves. To the many people who knit items and make gifts for the hampers. To the community organizations who faithfully support us all year. To all the local businesses and industries who are generous with time, money and "in kind" donations. To Overwaitea, Super Valu, Fields and Ed's Bakery who make countless donations on a weekly basis. To Christ the King Catholic Church for the use of their hall during "hamper week" - we could not manage without their facility. To Advantage Wings Travel and Dairy Queen for their Christmas Tree drop-off points. To Envision Credit Union for accepting and receipting cash donations. To the youth in the community who "give back" instead of receiving when they have a birthday party. To CAW members and RTA who raise and match several thousand dollars. Last but not least thank you to all the media without whom our appeal would not be so successful.

Thank you all again for "Caring and Sharing". May 2011 be one filled with peace and joy. God bless you all.

Sincerely

2010 Christmas Hamper Appeal Executive
