REPORTING · 3rd February 2011
Walter McFarlane
The Kitimat Public Library held their Regular Meeting of the Board on January 19th. Several positions were up for re-election and the room was packed for the meeting.

Acting Chair Linda Campbell read the chairs report. She explained the budget cuts from Council have forced the library to reduce their hours, staff and programs offered to members. Congratulations went to Maryanne Sweet who completed the maximum number of years of service on the library Board in 2009.

Five positions were open. Campbell ran again, as did Judith Halland and Tina Wilson. Rama Gorapalli from Bechtel and Krystal Fifi joined the board. Gorapalli spoke very well of the community and of the library. Fifi, at 18 years old also fills the request from Mayor Joanne Monaghan to have a youth on the board.

Not returning to the Library Board was Brian Lieberman, the former chair of the library. Halland became the new chair of the board.
