NEWS RELEASE · 26th January 2011
The Kitimat Marlins held an official time trial for all of their swimmers on Saturday, January 15, to help prepare their swimmers for the upcoming championship swim meets coming up over the next few months.
Swimmers swam between three and four events over the morning time trial. Many personal best times were made by the Marlins and they look ready to go for the upcoming meets.
Paige Collier (12), turning 13 at the end of the month, achieved her first AA provincial qualifying standard in the 100 meter freestyle for 13 year old girls. This allows her to compete at AA provincial championships in Chilliwack in mid Febuary.
Nine swimmers achieved the tough task of setting personal best times in all their events of the morning; Robyn Alderman, Hannah Bilash, Leah Desousa, Arthur Firmino, Madison Hauki, Danika Howell, Dylan Pirrotta, Alivia Salema and Madisen Szmata.
Many of the swimmers will be competing at Northwest Regional swim championships held in Terrace at the end of January.
