Kitimat hosted an Atom / Novice tournament on the weekend of 21st, 22nd and 23rd of January. Teams came from all over the Sacred Circle and beyond.

“We’re having an Atom / Novice Tournament,” said Cheri Demelo. “The teams come all the way from Burns Lake. We have one from Burns Lake, one from Smithers, three from Terrace, three from Rupert, 2 from Hazelton.”

The six teams in the Atom Division and eight teams in the Novice played a total of 31 games over the weekend. The tournament was sponsored by both the Canadian Auto Workers 2301 and the Kinsmen.

The Atom tournament ended with 4 games as their tournament was just for fun. The top four teams in the Novice Tournament were Prince Rupert and Kitimat, who ended their final game in a 5/5 tie for 3rd place, Burns Lake in 2nd place and Terrace in 1st with the final game ending 6/2 in favour of Terrace.

The playmaker of the tournament was Spencer Brown, #7, from Burns Lake who had the most assists in the tournament.
