The Mount Elizabeth Theatre Class is getting ready for their production this weekend of The Wizard of Oz.

“We’re doing the Wizard of Oz,” said Director Rick Jones. “That’s January the 21st, 22nd and 23rd and we’re well underway.”

“I think this is one of the best performances that the MESS Senior Drama Students have put on to date. Costuming: Exceptional. Cast and crew: Stellar. Set, set painting, set design, set dressing, magical,” said Brenda Feldhoff, Theatre Manager..

Casting was completed by mid October and Sara Weeres is playing Dorothy. Ben Thorn plays the Scarecrow, Zach Marlou is the Tin Man, Justin O’Brian is playing the Cowardly Lion. Linda Horianopoulos takes on the role of the Wicked Witch of the West.

“This is the Classic. This is the Royal Shakespeare Company version of it and it’s pretty close to the movie. It is a full musical,” said Jones.

Music is provided by Nancyjane Harness and more then 90 costumes were created by a team of 7 costumers. The sets were designed by Moreno Guizzo, Rick Jones and Eileen Hutson.

Tickets are on sale at the Front Door and at Book Masters.
