Council meets tonight for their first Council meeting of the new year at 7:30 pm at the Public Safety Building.

The meeting begins with a public hearing on a Nuisance Property on Stikine Street.

Following that is the Monthly Policing Report from December and a presentation by Benilda Gomes on the Fairness for the Northwest Petition.

There are 9 motions on the table tonight. The motions include the Fairness to the Northwest Petition, Council Education, Severing Ties with the Enbridge CAB, Northern Health, Motion Implementation, Tourism Management, Establishing the Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities, having a Year to Date Budget Report and a motion on the Retire Kitimat Task Force.

There is a bylaw hearing for 3rd reading on anticipation of revenue borrowing.

This is followed by 11 reports including requests for approval, prebudget approval, travel grants and a TECUP. In addition, there is a report on the Summer Student Employment Top Up Program, Unsightly Premises bylaws, the Grant Writer Program, Meeting Procedures for In Camera Meetings and the Statement of Accounts for December.

There are two communications, the first is from Ross Hoffman at UNBC on a Public Education Forum in Kitimat on the Northern Gateway Project, the other is from Doug Thompson on Snow Removal.

And of course, new business.
