On Monday, January 10, 2011 at the courthouse in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, twenty-one-year-old Edward Paul DUNDAS plead guilty to second degree murder of his father, Randy Clifford DUNDAS, and attempted murder of a 50-year-old male that occurred in August 2009.
On August 8, 2009, Prince Rupert RCMP was called to a disturbance at an apartment on 2nd Avenue West. Two RCMP officers arrived on the scene within minutes and located one deceased male and a second male lying on the floor covered in blood with more than fifteen stab wounds to his face, neck and back.
On August 10, 2009, the Prince Rupert RCMP received a tip from the public in regards to the location of the suspect, Edward Paul DUNDAS. DUNDAS was arrested moments later. The following day DUNDAS was charged with the 2nd degree murder of his father, Randy Clifford DUNDAS and attempted murder against a 50-year-old male related to Edward DUNDAS.
Prince Rupert General Duty members, Prince Rupert General Investigation Section, North District Forensic Identification Section, North District Major Crimes, Police Dog Services and many specialized units were all involved in this investigation.
“Co-operation and information from the community were integral in locating and arresting Edward DUNDAS” states Cst. Josh BROWNLEE from the General Investigation Section.
Edward Paul DUNDAS will be sentenced on April 19, 2011 at the courthouse in Prince Rupert, BC.
