In December of 2009, one of Kitimat’s the head of the recreation department passed away. One of the items discussed by the Advisory Recreation Commission in 2010 has been recognition for Joe Iannarelli.

On December 20th, two recommendations were given to Council. The first was for an aluminum plaque be placed in Tamitik recognizing what he did for the community. Second was for the trail which loops from the Giant Spruce Road along the riverbank and back to Dyke Road be named after Joe Iannarelli.

Bob Corless made the motion. It was carried.
