Hi all

The following is an update for the Christmas Hamper Appeal and it would be appreciated if it can go in the next publication or broadcast.

The Kitimat Christmas Hamper Appeal is in its final week of preparation to send out hampers on Saturday, December 18th. Gareen Ball and friends, along with CJFW FM Radio Station and Astral Media, broadcast her annual Santa's Workshop from City Centre Mall outside Sight & Sound on Saturday, December 11th. Thank you to all who came down to speak with Santa and to donate to the Christmas hampers, in particular Super Valu staff who brought over 4 overflowing grocery carts of cereal and peanut butter. Countless others brought in toys, cash, food and Mom's Crusine donated a turkey. Gareen's co-hosts included Ed Abreu of CAW; Mayor Monaghan; Bryan Salsbury, BMO Manager; Barb Campbell, Advantage Wings Travel, and, of course, Santa Claus. Helping to make this event a success were the engineering and tech staff from the radio station - thank you Erin and Dan. Thanks to Thom Meier for his ongoing support and to Sight & Sound for assisting with the sound equipment etc.

Cash donations for Week 4 are as follows: L Strecheniuk $300; Gyro Club of Kitimat $400; Nechako Northcoast Construction Terrace $250; Fabricland Terrace $100; C&P Gabel $1000; M&T Escaler $100; K Craven/Lucy Slykerman $150; Anonymous $21; S Cammish $20; L Scott $10; Shelley Nunes $20; H K Ho $10; Rod Adams $40; J Pilkington $50; Mr. & Mrs. J Alves $150; 101 Industries $200; Eileen Hutson $100; 16/37 Community Futures $514; White Gifts United Church/Anonymous Cash donations $725; Mr. & Mrs. T Gleig $100; Mr. & Mrs. G McFarlane $100; Mr. & Mrs. G Frater $150; D Griffiths $40; Mr. & Mrs. A Pierce $100; J Nidd $75; L Meeds $100; E Robinson $150; Mr. & Mrs. J Moore $50; Mr. & Mrs. G Scott $50; Mr. & Mrs. D Horwood $50; Mr. & Mrs. Donald Nunes $10; Mr. & Mrs. A Pierce $50; C Watchorn $150; Kitimat Presbyterian Church $100; Kitimat Presbyterian Church Sunday School $200; M Grant $100; Mr. & Mrs. D Kelly $100; School District 82 $168.97; G Swick $50; Anonymous $15; First Baptist Church $300; C Oscavai $20; M Moore $25; Anonymous $5; Kitimat Full Gospel Bible Fellowship $600; First West Credit Union - Diane Turner $500; Rio Tinto Alcan Power Operations $200.78; Mr & Mrs G Holmes $25; R Konicek $500; D Combden $25; Anonymous $20 and Anonymous $10. A big thank you to CAW Local 2310 for organizing the gate collections as well as the Alcan Retirees for raising $4220.54. This year, for the first time, Rio Tinto Alcan instead of just matching the CAW donations have doubled it with a donation of $8600 bringing our current total to $27,298.84!! These donations bring us much slower to last year's total of $32,533.94. The week prior to Christmas usually sees many of our donations come in so it is very possible we will meet last year's total.

This week volunteers are very busy setting up at the Catholic Hall, sorting food and gifts, wrapping gifts and filling the hampers for delivery on Saturday. We so appreciate all the work these volunteers do and could not manage with their support every year. Food and gift donations were picked up from all the schools this past week and this goes a long way to helping fill the hampers. We know the Snow Valley Skating Club will be holding their annual skating concert on ice this week and thank them for their ongoing support. Donations of food also came in from the Rivelodge Fitness Groups - thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has donated - it is wonderful to see such support from the Terrace business community as well. Thank you all for "caring and sharing". A final article will be published in mid-January.

Sincerely
