The Mayor’s Invitation to the Premier to visit Kitimat was the first item on the last page of Council’s Status report, which was discussed at the last meeting the of 'Committee of the Whole'. Halyk brought it forward asked the Mayor if it had been completed.

“I have. I have on several occasions. I have emailed him. I would like to interject at this point in time, if it is all right with Council, that the staff write a letter and I sign it,” said Mayor Joanne Monaghan.

Councillor Gerd Gottschling suggested giving him an option to meet with them if he does not have the time available. The motion was called and carried.

Premier Gordon Campbell was invited to meet with Council back in January. The initial response was he would not be able to meet with Council until after the Olympics. As time went on, both parties agreed he would not be able to come to Kitimat until the end of August / beginning of September.

This discussion was during the last week in October. We suppose the point is mute now eh?
