REPORTING · 1st November 2010
It was brought to our attention that former Councillor Richard McLaren passed away on the morning of October 31st.
Earlier this year, McLaren was diagnosed with ALS otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
He announced his resignation on August 16th citing he wished to conserve his energy for health and family. We were told he passed surrounded by his family members.
We wish to offer our condolences to the family.

I knew of Richard for many many years, and then i started to work with Richard, and i knew Richard. He was well respected in the industrial field. Always fair and easy to approach. He set his priorities, "my family is first" and made sure we knew it. Continually he spoke of "my grandkids are coming in" ... i am spending time with my grandkids. Richy also had a unique ability to listen...make objective decisions, and share them with us. No matter if you agreed or not, he was alway very pleasant, very polite and I enjoyed working with him. My heart goes out to his family, Mary
