The Kitimat Daily contacted all of all the candidates in the by-election via email and asked them a simple question: in 150 words or less, If elected to Council, what would they bring to the table. The final reply we received was from Edwin Empinado.
Here is his response:
You asked, what I would bring to council if elected. This is what I would like to bring.
I would be your voice in retaining, improving, and maintaining the health services that is already available in our community so that we could give quality care to our seniors, our children, and sick members of the community. I feel the demand to improve the care yet saw the attempts and cuts in services. I understand all your uncertainties of the future of these services because we never had been involved. We all need to be proactive in preserving the basic health services in Kitimat. The time is now! And I am that voice in council for I am a nurse, a patient and public healthcare advocate.
I will bring an objective, open, transparent, collaborative, and healthy discussions in council as we try to resolve issues, and bridge our differences in promoting a healthy community for Kitimat.
A Good Choice For Kitimat

I have known Edwin for few years, and I know that he is a great and hardworking person. He was incredibly friendly and helpful when my Grandfather had a stroke, and he is a big inspiration. He plays many instruments and is a great entertainer, he uses those talents to brighten our community, everywhere from church to the ACT Telethon. He is a great man and would make an even better counciler. VOTE FOR EDWIN!!
