REPORTING · 27th October 2010
The Kitimat Daily contacted all of all the candidates in the by-election via email and asked them a simple question: in 150 words or less, If elected to Council, what would they bring to the table. The second reply we received was from Corinne Scott.
Here is her response:
I would be honoured to be elected as Councillor for the District of Kitimat. I will bring to the Council table many years of relevant experience and an educational background that will enable me to make many valuable contributions.
Experience includes: 7˝ years as an elected municipal official, 14 years as a Municipal Manager, and 7 years as an economic development officer for northern Alberta. Educational background is in Local Government Administration from the University of Alberta.
During my career I gained a reputation for being skilled at interacting successfully in difficult situations, in a respectful, friendly, calm manner. I've worked with First Nations and northern communities assisting them with economic development and infrastructure needs.
I'm relatively new to the community, but fully understand Kitimat's unique advantages.
I can promise to promote diversified, sustainable, environmentally-healthy opportunities for continued growth.
I believe in a pro-active approach in building positive relationships with business, industry and neighbouring communities.
