The Kitimat Daily contacted all of all the candidates in the by-election via email and asked them a simple question: in 150 words or less, If elected to Council, what would they bring to the table. The third reply we received was from Michelle deLisser.
Here is her response:
First off, if I am elected in the by-election I will bring forth to Council the voice of the Youth population of Kitimat. I think that our community demographic is poorly represented on Council at this moment, and diversity is strongly needed. Along with Youth representation, I will bring my 5 years educational experience in political economy. I initially decided to go into politics when I discovered the importance of industrial communities like ours; therefore, I will bring forth my knowledge and ideas to Council, along with my care and commitment to our community, in hopes to get our local economy stimulated once again. Lastly, along with my ideas and the support of the Youth behind me, I would like to tackle smaller issues within our community as soon as possible; issues that have realistic deadlines and strong economic impacts on our community, benefiting all.
