The spoken word was celebrated at the Kitimat Museum and Archives on Saturday, September 25th with an Open Mic night. Eileen Hutson with Kitimat hosted the event along with On Cue Performers.

“I attended a Poetry Slam in Calgary two months ago and as I listened to the poets in Calgary present their work, I was thinking, I’ve heard comparable work here in Kitimat and Terrrace so I would really love to have an evening that celebrated that,” said Hutson.

There were approximately ten writers from all ages stepping up to the stand (as the mic was missing) through out the evening. Hutson hopes to have something like this again depending on the opportunity and the demand for it.
