The BC Senior Games took place in Courtenay, Comox Valley and Campbell River this year and Kitimat brought back medals with them. Among the medalists were Tilly Bachman, Eileen Craven and Anne Berrisford, who brought home a gold.
Bachman and Kraven received their medals in a team effort with Terrace Seniors. “It was a wonderful experience. It was one of the best we have ever been at; the food, the people, everything. It was absolutely wonderful,” said Bachmann.
It was Berrisford’s second time going to the senior games, last time she brought home a bronze in golf. This time she brought home the gold. “We played two different golf courses. We played Sunnydale in Courtenay and Glacier Greens in Comox,” said Berrisford.
She spoke very highly of the organization, the participants, the weather and the entertainment provided during the games.
Unfortunately with Berrisford at the games the local Terry Fox Run in Kitimat (Sunday the 19th) was cancelled. Prior to the games, she had asked many people if they would be able to take over the run for her but did not get any takers. People who want to make donations can still contact Berrisford or do them directly through the foundation. She also has a couple of 30th anniversary T-Shirts for those interested.
