On September 10th, the Kitimat Snowflake Seniors Society held a special BBQ lunch to thank the people who made their new patio possible. They were hoping to have it on the deck but the weather refused to cooperate.
“It was a thank you BBQ for those people who were responsible in their heart for making the deck becoming a reality. We built a 16 by 40 foot patio and we had a lot of the local businesses who were involved that volunteered either time or materials to make this thing possible,” said Bill Witty.
The deck project was funded through the UBCM. The Grant also allowed for an electric door opening apparatus to be installed at the Senior’s Center. The seniors wanted a place to sit outside when it sunny.
The first group of people to use the deck were people from Extended Care on July First to view the festivities. The Senior’s Center will be kicking off September with a Patio Kick off BBQ on September 24th. Registration is required and there is a fee for non-members.
