REPORTING · 13th September 2010
September the 21st is the International Day of Peace and there are plans in the works for Kitimat residents to take part in this year’s celebration. Kitimat will be forming another peace symbol at Riverlodge at 6:00 pm on the 21st.
”We’re doing things now down at Riverlodge,” said Eleanor Kendal. “We will make the peace sign at the very back of the parking lot so people could gather at the front in front of the stage and hear the music and speeches that will be made. Then we’ll all move down through the central vehicle pathway to the back of the lot and that’s where we’ll make the peace sign.”
One of the things which will be a part of this celebration of peace will be artwork by the museums art program done by youth ages 6-8 which will be on display at the mall.
On September 8th, Mayor Joanne Monaghan signed a proclamation of peace proclaiming September 21st as the International Day of Peace.
