Dease Lake RCMP
On 7 September, 2010, at 1:00 pm, the Dease Lake RCMP received report of a single vehicle crash on Highway #37, approximately 24 km south of Dease Lake. A southbound gray 2007 GMC crewcab pick-up truck lost control and went off road. A male driver and a male passenger were found deceased.
Emergency Services (police, fire, & ambulance) attended to find a male driver and a male passenger deceased. Both males have been identified and are not from the Dease Lake area. They are from the central interior of the province. The names of the decease are not being released, at the request of both families.
The highway was closed from 1:00 pm until 11:00 pm on September 7, 2010, while the Dease Lake RCMP, with assistance from the RCMP North District West Traffic Services, conducted an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Single lane traffic was permitted after 11:00 pm until the scene investigation was completed later this morning, and the highway was reopened to both lanes of traffic.
The Dease Lake RCMP, North District Traffic Services and the Coroner Service continue the investigation to establish all of the contributing factors in this crash. That will include alcohol involvement, any mechanical failures, mechanical defects or driver behavior.
