REPORTING · 29th August 2010
It is not every day you see an officer being placed behind bars. The RCMP were having fun along with the community in the Jail and Bail coinciding with A&W's Cruising for a Cause Day on August 25th.
”Last year, A&W went into partnership with MS so August 25th every year we do a fundraising day, Cruising For a Cause Day in hope that we could end the battle with MS,” said Rita Powell, store Manager.
One dollar from every Teenburger sold at A&W on the 26th went to the fight against MS. In addition, there was a Jail and Bail for people from the community to try and earn some extra funds.
“It’s up to every A&W to decide if they want to make some extra effort and this year, we decided to have a Jail and Bail. We put out the word and the community has graciously accepted to join us in the fun,” said Yvonne Meekel, an employee at A&W.
7 residents were scheduled to go into the jail which ran until 3:00. They had to raise a bail amount set by the judge by calling their friends and neighbours.
Cst. Brown and Student Sam Stewart also participated in bringing in Kitimat's 'most wanted.' Here escort Lori Ferreira from the Child Development Centre into the A&W Jail.
