Kitimat Arts For Youth is holding their annual Summer Band Camp. This two week camp started last week on the 16th and ends later this week on the 27th. 25 students are enrolled in this years camp, half beginner and half intermediate.

“We are having our 6th annual summer band camp for beginner and intermediate students from Kitimat,” said Nancy Jane Harness. “The camp is run this year as it was last by Mr. Mike Wenn who is the director of the Terrace Symphony Orchestra as well as five student teachers from Terrace and for the first time, we’re employing kids from Kitimat as well.”

The youth are spread out among all the instruments with the saxophone, clarinet and the drums being the most popular of the instruments. One of the benefits of the Band Camp, is the students can try several instrument until they find one they like.

The students are doing an excellent job and the camp will end with a concert by the students later this week.
