REPORTING · 24th August 2010
Evan Jennings
Two environmental groups are going to be a part of a coincided rally at both the Joint Review Panel public discussion in Kitimat and at the Enbridge Headquarter's in Vancouver.

Below are the releases from each of the groups.
The first is from ForestEthics and the second is from Friends of Wild Salmon.

ForestEthics

Urge government to ban oil tankers from BC's fragile north coast. We need a ban now to protect our coastline from an Enbridge pipeline project that would bring more than 225 tankers in and out of BC's dangerous northern waters each year.

The rally will start at 12PM near Enbridge's Vancouver headquarters (SE corner of Burrard and Pender), and march to the Vancouver Art Gallery. We'll hear from campaigners and Members of Parliame...nt working to protect our coast. It coincides with a hearing in Kitimat held by the Joint Review Panel appointed to review the Enbridge project, and is coordinated with a rally in Kitimat.

Friends of Wild Salmon

We're rallying in Kitimat on August 31! Care to join us?
The Joint Panel Review is having its first public meeting in Northwest BC in Kitimat on August 31st. The purpose is to find out what communities people think the upcoming JRP hearings should be held in, and what the scope of the hearings should be.
We're going to make sure the panel knows that British Columbians aren't going to let the Northern Gateway Pipeline go ahead. We're helping plan a big rally outside the Kitimat meeting to show the region's strong opposition to the project.

This is going to be a family friendly event, so feel free to bring the kids. Also, if you have signs, banners, or campaign t-shirts, be sure to bring them along (we'll have some available, too).
Best of all, we're going to have live music by the Northwest's own Rachelle van Zanten!!

Transportation will be coordinated from northwest communities and we will send more details closer to the date. If you have questions, please email us at info,,,friendsofwildsalmon.ca
