The Walmart Campaign has raised $1.81 million for the Canadian Red Cross at the halfway mark. Support from the Community is Still Needed
At the two-week mark, the Walmart Campaign has raised $1.81 million to support Canadian Red Cross disaster response activities. With an ambitious goal of $2.6 million and a British Columbia and Yukon goal of $248,500, support from the community is still needed.
The four-week campaign is running in Walmart stores nationwide until August 31st. Canadians are encouraged to continue to support the Red Cross by making a donation at a Walmart checkout. The donation will help ensure the local Canadian Red Cross in their community is ready when a disaster strikes.
“Funds raised during this campaign will help to provide urgently needed relief items during disasters and beyond,” says Sharan Dhillon, Fund Development Coordinator of the Canadian Red Cross. “We’re very excited to be working with Walmart on this annual fundraising campaign, and we know that Walmart shoppers will continue to get behind the Canadian Red Cross.”
Walmart Canada operates a growing network of 320 outlets nationwide, serving more than one million Canadians daily. With 80,000 associates, the company is Canada's fourth largest employer. Walmart Canada has one of the of the largest and strongest community involvement programs in Canada.
