The first presentation to Council on Monday, July 19th was presented by Corporal Peppler from the Kitimat RCMP to present to Council with an update on the detachment.

In June, they gave a tour of the detachment for a preschool program, two officers attended the G8 / G20 conferences in Ontario and Staff Sergeant Steve Corp received his 20 years of service award, congratulations. Samantha Stewart started her three month tenure as a Uniformed Summer Student. She will be attending law enforcement preparation program.

Two RCMP members attended the Solidarity Gathering of Nations in late may, RCMP met with the Liquor Control Board to work on joint projects in the future such as looking at Law enforcement included underage drinkers, smoking and other common problems. They also introduced the membership to the Canadian Rangers. Finally during the Bull-O-Rama, they had a high presence of foot and bike patrols.

Peppler reminded Council the RCMP were out on bikes during the nice days of the summer.

For Crime Statistics for June, there were 12 new cases of common assault, 19 cases of Mischief to Property and 24 instances of causing a disturbance. There were 47 motor vehicle act tickets, 24 warning, 6 suspensions and 6 cases of impaired driving

Monaghan congratulated the RCMP on their recent activities. There were no questions.
