Talented artist Emily Chrisitiansen is putting on an exhibit of her artwork at the Kitimat Museum and Achieves. It opened on July 16th and will run until the .14th of August. The title: “It’s a Northern Thing.”

”It’s A Northern Thing is a bunch of paintings which are either directly or indirectly related to how Kitimat shaped my life and living in a Northern Communty in British Columbia,” said Chrisitiansen

Paintings focus on plays of light on landscape. All of them are inspired by Kitimat’s unique features and the way the light affects them. Two of the paintings in the exhibit are from a collection of three paintings which were commissioned by Christ the King Church in Kitimat to be displayed at different times of the year.

“People who live up here will have a lot of understanding of some special places that are shown in my paintings and a special feeling and that’s what A Northern Thing Is, it’s a special feeling to the environment around you,” said Chrisitiansen.
