The Hill Climb started from the top on Sunday, July 4th by starting the time trials. When the rain had hit the previous day, they had not been completed. John Ribeiro returned to the race in his tow truck.
“I went out early but I didn’t hit the logs,” said Ribeiro.
The cars then raced in their elimination rounds and reached the finals around mid afternoon. In the finals for A Division, Pierre Amado hit perfect lights earning him an extra $150. He won his division and then went on to win the title: King of the Hill.
“It was an excellent day. Everything worked out. The weather held out and it was a really good day,” said Amado.
“It was good, it was a success,” said John Weaver. “The weather held, it came around for us, yesterday we got rained out so we tried it again this morning and it worked out, we were successful.”
