RIVERBOAT DAYS 2010: Friday, July 30 to Sunday, August 8

The countdown is on! Starting the August long weekend, Riverboat Days is an entire week to appreciate the history, the culture and simply the unequaled natural setting around Terrace. Riverboat Days has grown to become the premiere community festival of northwestern British Columbia. Longstanding favourites such as the Legion Parade, the fireworks over Ferry Island and Concerts in the Park are sure to please.

Riverboat Days very varied program is loaded with entertainment gems for all ages and for a broad range of interests, such as music, sports, the arts and history. Encourage that young child to enter the Kiddies Bike Parade, sample delicious fare in the "Tastes of Terrace" tour or gather at Ferry Island for an educational interpretive walk led by local forestry professionals. From quiet and reflective art exhibits to loud and fast auto racing, that's Riverboat Days.

New events for 2010 include 3 on 3 Basketball, a garden pond tour, Open House demos at the Rifle & Archery Range and a military history exhibit at Heritage Park. Long-term fans of Riverboat Days know there's always a good laugh at the Slingers Race, that there's a gem in the model railroad to be discovered in the old railcar along the Millennium Pathway, that celebrities shouldn't mess with Paintball but do, and that "Beach Blast Volleyball" will produce high quality competition and draw big crowds.

We've got music right from the Opening Ceremonies to the final event in the Riverside Festival. But if your tastes lean towards rock, you have to be at George Little Park, on the Saturday, July 31. as Terrace Sight & Sound Audiotronic and its co-sponsors present Concerts in the Park. There's a sparkling new bandshell and park improvements just waiting for famous west coast band and featured Concerts' performer HEADPINS to crown a great day in Terrace.

At any time, we encourage you to discuss your ideas with members of the Society Executive for new events or suggestions to make Riverboat Days even better. You can get contact information through the George Little House or Terrace Recreation Department. We are always open to new members of the organizing committee!
